Things we stumble across. There are so many fun things to find along Historic Route 66 and here’s a great example, an original Wigwam Village Motel.
Our route has brought us across Old Route 66 twice in the trip, once in St. Louis, and here again in Holbrook AZ. This unique motel, located just outside downtown Holbrook, is still used today and has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
This motel served as inspiration for Sally’s “Cozy Cone Motel” in the popular Disney film “Cars”! We must have seen that film fifty times in our house over the years and it was really cool for the boys to roll up on this historic gem and instantly make the connection. Lots of Fun! My enthusiasm for taking pictures here probably outlasted their interest in the point of interest but what the heck, I can have fun too right?
